 Ff. 2. Two half sheets, with notes by Locke according to his method of commonplacing; Locke divided the leaves in alphabetically marked columns, each letter receiving five subcolumns (a-e-i-o-u), all columns drawn by pencil, the first leaf ending with column ‘L’ and the second leaf continuing with column ‘M’, thus establishing a complete alphabetic series.
 Fol. 113: 313 × 219 mm; fol 114: 313 × 219 mm.
 Fol. 113: no watermark or countermark. Fol. 114: watermark, showing from top to bottom: coat of arms with sword, letters SMB encircled, empty circle.
Stitching and pins
 None, except small punctures used as markers for column lines.
Quires and page numbers
 The first sheet has ‘3’ at the left-hand side of the bottom of the recto page. Folio numbers added by the Bodleian librarian.
 Folios 113-114 are dated ‘93 by Locke.
